In the midst of the uproar over UC Davis professor Joshua Clover's remarks about killing police officers, a California lawmaker has launched a petition which aims to assist in the effort to have Clover terminated from his position at the university.
CA Assemblyman James Gallagher launched the petition following a UC Davis student/journalist report in the campus newspaper.
CA Aggie reporter Nicholas Irvin detailed a number of instances in which Professor Clover called for violence against members of law enforcement--including a tweet in which Clover stated that police "need to be killed".
In a Facebook post, Assemblyman Gallagher states...
This type of vitriol and support for violence puts our law enforcement officials in danger. Recently, a young officer, Natalie Corona, was ambushed and murdered in the City of Davis, yet Clover refuses to retract his outlandish statements.
