The White House says a federal mandate requiring Americans to wear face masks during the coronavirus pandemic is "not in order."
Speaking on Fox News, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said it's a "state-to-state issue," adding that state governors and local officials will be the one to make that decision.
However, Meadows suggested that masks could be required at President Trump's campaign event in New Hampshire later this week, calling it a "factor of precaution."
He added that President Trump has said he is "willing to wear a mask if appropriate in tight quarters."
