More Intense Rain Incoming As System Rages On Across NorCal, Here's When

The latest winter storm continues to slam into California. The second part of the atmospheric river system hit the area overnight, bringing over 50 mile per hour winds, downed power lines, collapsed trees and flooding. The Sacramento Region and beyond are now starting to assess the damage and start working on recovery efforts to rebuild or remove debris. While the biggest threat has passed, there's still a chance for heavy rain, flooding and high winds until at least Friday and again on Sunday. Governor Gavin Newsom already declared an emergency to help with relief efforts.

The rain that came in over New Year's Eve and the activity Wednesday are reportedly part of the same atmospheric river system. The death toll from the series of rain is now at least five people. Two more bodies were found after flooding in Sacramento County. Sheriff's department officials said a body was found inside a submerged vehicle from the recent flood West of Orr Road Wednesday. Earlier that day, authorities found a body of a woman east of Highway 99, about a half hour drive away. California Highway Patrol officials said they strongly suspect the body is from stranded car. Wednesday night's rain killed two more. One was a suspected child that was killed in a house in Sonoma County after a tree fell onto the house. The other, a 19-year old teen driving in Fairfield and hydroplaned into a pole. More rain is expected over the weekend, with another system slated to start on Sunday.
