Sacramento Family Identified As Those Killed In Tulare County Plane Crash

The four people who died in a plane crash this weekend near the Visalia Airport are said to have been members of a family from Sacramento. The Tulare County Sheriff's Office is identifying them as 78-year old David Chelini, his two daughters: 48-year old Donna and 46-year-old Karen Baker, and his nephew 58-year old Steven Chelini. The single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza crashed in heavy fog just minutes after taking off at around 6:30 Saturday evening. Reports say it took authorities hours to locate the crash due to the dense fog and dark conditions. The 911 call came into dispatch only four minutes after takeoff according to the Tulare Sheriff's Department. The plane that crashed was registered to David Chelini, but it is unknown exactly if he was the pilot of the aircraft. The FAA and National Transportation Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
