City Of Sacramento Offering Rebates For "Water-Wise" Landscaping

The City of Sacramento along with regional water providers are offering rebates for those who switch to more environmental options for landscaping. Water providers are offering up to $15,000 for what they're calling "water-wise" landscape upgrades at businesses, schools and churches within five miles of the Lower American River. The program is designed to prevent overwatering and runoff that carries fertilizers and pesticides into storm drains, where it then travels directly to rivers, streams and creeks. Qualifying properties can get funding to upgrade irrigation systems including high-efficiency sprinkler heads, weather-based irrigation controllers and drip irrigation. Funding is also available for low-water plants and trees. The rebate program is funded by a grant from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
