Newsom Speaks After Defeating Recall, Says He Was 'Humbled' By Experience

Less than an hour after the polls closed in California, most of the major news networks are calling the recall election in favor of Gavin Newsom. Speaking from the Sacramento Democratic Headquarters around 9pm on election night, Newsom says he was humbled by the experience and that Californians by voting no, voted yes for many other opportunities for social and economic justice. Newsom was not expected to face another election until 2022; the recall movement picked up steam in response to his pandemic response and recently his response to the massive wildfires in recent years. Newsom ended his speech by thanking Californians for rejecting the recall and calling on his supporters to get back to work.
