Newsom Adviser Facing Domestic & Child Abuse Charges

A prominent Bay Area political strategist and adviser to Governor Newsom is facing domestic violence and child abuse charges. The Napa County DA's Office filed two felony charges against Nathan Ballard Thursday, accusing him of attacking his wife and trying to suffocate a four-year-old girl back in October. The woman who is pressing charges is claiming he was heavily under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Ballard's attorney said he expects to be acquitted when the case is investigated. Ballard serves on the board of a women's rights nonprofit that was founded by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of Governor Gavin Newsom.
