Teen Boys Charged With Murder In Porterville Library Fire

The two teenage boys suspected of starting a deadly fire at a Central Valley library are now also being charged with murder. Police said the boys were arrested after they were seen running from Porterville City Library shortly after the fire started.

Tulare County prosecutors filed two counts of murder with special circumstances of multiple murders and arson against the 13-year-olds. Firefighters Patrick Jones and Raymond Figueroa were killed after going into the library to attack the flames that also gutted the library in the San Joaquin Valley town.

The boys denied the charges and remain in jail. They are scheduled to return to juvenile court on March 11th.

Firefighters Raymond Figueroa (r) and Patrick Jones (l) each lost their life battling the alleged arson fire at the Porterville City Library.
