Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg is endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. Steinberg's backing of Biden comes after his original choice, California Senator Kamala Harris, dropped out of the race. Steinberg told the Sacramento Bee he thinks the former Vice President has the best chance to beat President Trump in states the Democrats lost in 2016.
Mayor Steinberg says he also considered supporting former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who recently received the endorsement of Stockton mayor Michael Tubbs and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. Biden has also snagged Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Senator Dianne Feinstein's endorsement. California's primary is March 3rd.
