Nor Cal Man's Body Recovered From Frozen Lake

Searchers with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office say they've found the body of a man who has been missing since Thanksgiving, and the remains were at the bottom of a frozen lake.

The body of 39-year-old David Schmidt was in Lake Baron after deputies used a remotely operated submersible to search the lake. Investigators say the don't believe the death is suspicious.

Schmidt was reported missing to the EDCSO last Thursday, and it was feared that he likely fell through the ice while walking his three dogs.

A search was conducted by deputies, a dive team, firefighters, and a search and rescue team on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after following the discovery of cold weather clothing in the lake.

The dogs were found alive and taken to a vet for treatment.
