California gas prices are not expected to be impacted by Tuesday's massive explosion and fire at an East Bay fuel facility.
Gas Buddy analyst Patrick DeHaan says the NuStar facility in Crockett isn't a refinery, as earlier reports said, but a storage facility for various refinery products. He says the fire destroyed only tanks of ethanol, which is shipped into California regularly by train and is only a gasoline additive.
Fire officials ares still looking into the cause of the explosion and fire, but they appear skeptical about the chance Monday night's 4.5 earthquake in nearby Pleasant Hill is connected.
