Police Search For Suspect After Attempted Rape On American River

Authorities are investing a reported sexual assault and attempted rape incident that took place on Sunday evening. Just after 6:30 p.m., a woman reported that a man attacked her at Sutter's Landing along the American River.

While investigating that report, police learned of another attack and attempted rape near the same location on the American River . Both women were able to escape with no injuries.

Police say the man is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-9-inches, heavy set, dark hair, green eyes, and in his 20's or 30's. Investigators are asking any potential witnesses to come forward, including a man on a bicycle seen nearby during the second incident.
