A man was fatally shot Thursday evening while driving in the Vineyard area of South Sacramento.
Around 11:45 p.m. the Sacramento County Sheriff's office responded to reports of a man shot in a vehicle near Andalusian Drive, South Sacramento. Deputies located a blue SUV with a wounded male in the driver's seat. He was suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's office.
The man has now been identified as 18-year-old Timothy McGinnis of Long Beach, according to The Sacramento County Coroners Office.
Authorities say three other males were with the victim at the time of the shooting. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a SMUD power box after being shot.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are currently on the scene. No motive is known at this time.
