New CA Budget Includes DMV Increase For Real ID Help

California's Department of Motor Vehicles is going to be receiving a 17-percent budget increase in the coming fiscal that starts in July. The extra money is meant to help the department boost implement the Real ID program.

The $242 million increase comes just months before the October 1st, 2020 Real ID deadline for anyone who wants to fly in or out of Sacramento International Airport or any airport in the nation.

DMV offices across the state are gearing up for a crush of millions of customers looking to upgrade their driver's license.

Without a Real ID you'll need a valid passport to fly or enter federal facilities after the deadline.
