Man Impersonates ICE Agent, Makes Bogus Arrests In El Dorado County

The El Dorado Count Sheriff's Office on Thursday announced the arrest of an El Dorado Hills man for impersonating a police officer after he allegedly robbed construction workers on two separate occasions.

The victims told investigators that a man, who was later identified as Patrick Mullany, identified himself as a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, handcuffed them, and threatened them with deportation if they did not give him money to pay for "court fees." The workers reportedly called the sheriff's office after the bogus ICE agent left the construction sites.

Once investigators had gathered enough information on what had happened, they were able to get a search warrant for Mullany’s home and vehicle. During a subsequent search, two replica firearms, two sets of handcuffs, and a large amount of cash were found.

Mullany was arrested and taken to the County Jail on the impersonating a police officer, and he will also face charges of robbery and false imprisonment.
