California Is Nearly Drought Free For the First Time in 8 Years

After a wet winter, California is nearly drought-free, with only a small area south of Los Angeles that has abnormal dryness.

The U.S. Drought Monitor says more than 93 percent of the state is free of drought or dryness.

Only parts of four southern California counties amount to less than 7 percent of the state, due to very dry years in the past.
