Police in California confirm the arrest of a teenager in the 2017 murder and rape of a woman who had been living in a mental health facility.
Detectives on Thursday arrested 18-year-old Seth Becknel in the killing of 41-year-old Jenny Wu, according to a report by the Modesto Bee.
Police officials said Wu had been reported missing from Modesto Residential Living Center the evening before her killing. Her body was found the next morning in an alley, and it is believed she had been asphyxiated. Detectives say she was out for a walk when she was attacked.
Detectives collected DNA, along with other evidence, during the investigation and recently got a match from the Department of Justice Crime. That match led to the Becknel's arrest.
It was not immediately clear if Becknel has retained an attorney.
