Oakland, California could be housing its homeless population on a cruise ship.
Supervisor Rebecca Kaplan says she had mentioned exploring housing on a large vessel at a previous city council meeting and two cruise ship companies have since contacted her on making it a reality.
One ship could easily house up to one-thousand people.
She's looking into possibly docking a ship or two at the Port of Oakland. A proposal on housing the homeless in the East Bay city on ships could come as soon as January.
