"Advance Peace" Can It Help End Cyclical Gun Violence?

“ADVANCE PEACE” is an innovative law enforcement program designed to help diminish the number of gang-related homicides.

In essence, the program's aim is to turn would-be murderers away from deadly outcomes.  Advance Peace helps the police identify individuals who they believe are most likely to be involved in gun violence, or become the victims of gun violence, and steer them away from circumstances that could turn deadly.

Part of the program involves investment--providing incentives to would-be gang bangers.  But will the incentives be enough?  And will the community support the program?

Wesley Lowery, Washington Post national correspondent, covered the story.
