According to The New York Times, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen may be close to resigning.
The paper says Nielsen came close to resigning this week after President Trump berated her on Wednesday in front of the entire cabinet for what he said was her failure to adequately secure the nation's border.
Nielsen reportedly told colleagues she would step down if the President didn't think she was effective in her role.
The Department of Homeland Security declined to comment on the story.
Nielsen has been on the job for about five months.
Asked about the heated exchange at the meeting, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, said Thursday that “the president is committed to fixing our broken immigration system and our porous borders".
