Leaders in Berkeley want the city to become a sanctuary city for marijuana.
The City Council voted unanimously yesterday to take the likely historic step.
Such a move bans city agencies and employees from turning over information on legal cannabis activities and assisting in enforcing federal marijuana laws.
It's believed to be the first time a city has taken such steps.
