A NEW ERA IS NEEDED IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The Kurds have been one of the United States most consistent allies throughout the entire war in Iraq.  Now, they're fighting against the Iraqi government, one that's armed with American weapons but ideologically aligned with Iran.

Washington Post Beirut Bureau Chief, Liz Sly, talked to Jack & Joe from Beirut.  Echoing a similar sentiment recently expressed on the show by Mike Lyons, Sly says many of the worst outcomes of the wars in the Middle East were predictable.  Sly says that weapons were handed out "willy nilly" and it should not surprise anyone that sectarian forces are using those resources to protect and enhance their own self interests.
