A new poll released by Bloomberg and Morning Consult Pro on Wednesday (May 22) shows that former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in five key swing states, while Biden holds a marginal lead in Michigan and the two are tied in Nevada.
Trump reportedly has an advantage in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which were won by Biden in the 2020 presidential election, as well as North Carolina. Both candidates are reported to have nearly identical results in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, while Trump reportedly has a wider lead in Nevada, when third-party contenders are included.
Earlier this month, polls released by the New York Times/Siena College and the Philadelphia Inquirer had Trump leading in five crucial battleground states previously won by Biden in the 2020 presidential election, which included Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and Pennsylvania, while Biden was reported to have an edge in Wisconsin. The polls reportedly reflected Americans' dissatisfaction to the president's handling of several issues, including inflation, immigration, and the Israel-Hamas war, as well as the president's ability to improve the quality of life for Americans.
Nearly 70% of respondents said the U.S. needed a political and economic systems overhaul and only 13% believed Biden was capable of making that change during a potential second term. Several respondents also admitted that they believed Trump would be the candidate to bring these changes despite admitting to still disliking him.
Trump and Biden were reported to be tied among Hispanic voters ages 18 to 29, a demographic that had more than 60% support Biden during the 2020 presidential election. Trump was also reported to have 20% support among Black voters, the highest reported total for a Republican candidate since the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
