Halloween is right around the corner. Whether you're a horror movie fanatic or just looking for something to get in the Halloween spirit, California is home to many filming sites of iconic horror movies that you can actually visit.
Here are three locations you can check out this Halloween:
Bronson Canyon From Invasion of the Body Snatcher (1956)
The Bronson Canyon, also known as Bronson Caves, is located within Los Angeles's Griffith Park. It's become known as a filming location for many films and TV series, especially Westerns and science fiction, but its most notable use in the horror genre is Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Miles and Becky use the cave as a hiding place and terror ensues.
The Potter Schoolhouse From The Birds (1963)
The school in Alfred Hitchcock's chilling The Birds is still standing today in Bodega, California. It was built in 1873 and was first used as a schoolhouse. Over the years it's been used as a community center, a restaurant, and an inn. It's currently a private home so fans will have to check out the location from a respectful distance.
The Myers House from Halloween (1978)
Hands down one of the most iconic films in horror movie history, John Carpenter's Halloween used a California historical landmark as Michael Myer's childhood home. The house in South Pasadena was built in the late 1880s. It was originally located on Meridian Avenue but the home was relocated to avoid demolition in 1987. Now, horror fans flock to 1000 Mission Street to visit the iconic house.
