Benefit Concert For Musician Battling Cancer To Be Held In Sacramento

A benefit concert for Tom Hunting, the drummer of thrash metal band Exodus, will be held in Sacramento this July, reports Blabbermouth.net.

The Long Live Tom Hunting Benefit Show will be held on Saturday, July 17 at One The Y in Sacramento with performances by Blind Illusion, Boneless Ones, and Jesus Crisis.

On The Y will reportedly have a 100-person capacity for the concert.

Hunting released a statement in April announcing that he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach.

Since then, a GoFundMe campaign for the musician was started and has already raised over $90,000 in less than two weeks. Donations came pouring in from Huntington's famous colleagues like Metallica guitarist (and former Exodus band member) Kirk Hammett who donated $5,000. Fozzy singer and wrestling star Chris Jericho also donated $1,500.

"I'm making this public to raise awareness for people to pay attention to symptoms of stomach and esophageal issues. If they persist, please go get it checked out," said Hunting. "I'm not gonna be sheepish talking about it. I feel that if I can help someone with what I've learned, or someone out there has information to share with me, it's a win-win! When you can name the enemy, it's empowering, and you're 1 step closer to killing it!"
