Union Members Reject Return Plan From One Sacramento School District

Hundreds of union workers in the Sacramento City Unified School District are threatening to strike, after rejecting the district's proposal to bring kids back to campus. The plan was set earlier this month by the district, intending to begin in-person instruction April 8th. Now, the SEUI-1021 union, representing custodians, teaching aides, bus drivers, along with security and food workers claims the return plan puts member's lives at risk without necessary health and safety protocol. More than 90% of the union members rejected the district's return-proposal, and are in-part asking for $125 weekly stipends for workers with kids and more opportunities to work remotely. Students still made the return to campus on April 8th even as the negotiations continue to stall.
