Sacramento Halting Use Of The J&J COVID Vaccine

Sacramento public health officials are halting the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine.

This comes after a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the FDA to suspend all use of the shot. The county's public health department says they're working with Equivax to continue distribution clinics as scheduled. Those with an appointment for the one-dose shot, have automatically been switched to Pfizer.

The recommendation comes from recently reported blood clot symptoms from patients who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine. There also included reports of severe headaches, leg and abdominal pain from six rare cases, however Johnson & Johnson are reporting that patients who received the vaccine more than a month ago are "very low risk."
