Cherokee Nation Wants Name Change To Popular Jeep Model

Jeep is being asked to leave behind the name of some of its most popular models.

The principal chief of the Cherokee Nation told Car and Driver magazine it's time to retire the tribe's name from the automaker's lineup. Chuck Hoskin Jr. noted the brand name is likely well-intended but having it on the side of a car doesn't honor the tribe. The company said it's willing to speak with the Nation, but hasn't said if it's willing to change the name.
