Indianapolis Picked To Host The 2021 NCAA Tournament

March Madness is coming to Indianapolis. The NCAA announced that the entire 2021 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament will be held in Indianapolis at multiple venues in and around the city. Officials said they felt it was the safest decision to have all 68 teams play in one city instead of playing in 13 different cities across the country.

"This is a historic moment for NCAA members and the state of Indiana," NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a statement. "We have worked tirelessly to reimagine a tournament structure that maintains our unique championship opportunity for college athletes. The reality of today's announcement was possible thanks to the tremendous leadership of our membership, local authorities, and staff."

The games will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indiana Farmers Coliseum, Purdue's Mackey Arena, and IU's Assembly Hall. While there are two courts inside of Lucas Oil Stadium, the football stadium will only host one game at a time.

Officials said that currently, only family members will be allowed to attend games. The NCAA said it will work with local health officials to determine if fans will be allowed to watch the games in person.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 16, and will conclude with the National Championship game on Monday, April 5.

The NCAA is working to find a single city to host the women's basketball tournament and is in talks with officials in San Antonio, Texas.
