A Warrior Story: Sandy Lehmkuhler & How WFFS Began!

"So in the middle of the night, I just kept thinking...this country can do better. They've lost their arms and legs for the U.S. We can do better."

--Sandy Lehmkuhler on the origins of Warrior Foundation Freedom Station.

This week, we’re once again asking you to join us to help Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, a fantastic organization that aims to send ill and injured service members home for Christmas.

Our rather ambitious goal this year (given the pandemic) is to raise $500,000 by 10am Pacific on Friday, November 20.  In spite of the challenges brought-on by the pandemic, we’re confident that with your help--we can do it!

One of reasons we're involved with Warrior Foundation Freedom Station is due to the presence of a true angel. There's simply no other way to put it--Sandy Lehmkuhler is an angel.

Back in 2004, the Navy wife and mom was struck by how the needs of our injured troops were not being met--and she was determined to do something about it.

Listen to the Armstrong & Getty Select Cuts Podcast to learn about how Sandy started the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station with one simple idea in mind....

About Warrior Foundation Freedom Station

Founded in 2004, Warrior Foundation Freedom Station is a leading force in assisting, honoring and supporting the military men and women who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country. The foundation provides ill and injured warriors with quality-of-life items, support services and transitional housing designed to assist them and their families during recovery.

Warrior Foundation Freedom Station assists four main groups of warriors:

· The seriously injured returning home from war with immediate medical and emotional needs.

· Those suffering from post-traumatic stress (PTS) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI).

· Physical and occupational therapy patients who are recovering and/or receiving medical care at military medical facilities.

· Transitioning warriors who are medically retiring and transitioning to civilian life.

Warrior Foundation Freedom Station is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We proudly hold Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating, the highest possible rating, demonstrating our adherence to sector best practices and commitment to transparency. Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Warrior Foundation Freedom Station exceeds industry standards and outperforms most other charities in America.
