Northern California Fire Danger Expected To Be High All Week

Critical fire conditions could linger for at least a week over Northern California. Meteorologists expect the Red Flag Warning that currently applies to the North Bay mountains and Mount Diablo to be extended beyond its 8:00 a.m. Wednesday expiration. They also think it will be expanded to cover more areas, including the Santa Cruz Mountains, Central Valley and the Sierra foothills.

Winds have been moderate so far, but more offshore gusts are expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning and again from Saturday night into Sunday.

PG&E has also placed 50,000 customers on alert for a possible public safety power shutoff as soon as Wednesday evening.
