Gov Newsom: California To Buy 200M Masks A Month Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, California Governor Gavin Newsom has reportedly reached a deal to get 200-million masks per month for the state at a cost of $1 billion. In an interview on MSNBC, Newsom said they have secured the masks through a consortium of non-profits and a manufacturer in California.

The Governor also said the masks will primarily be manufactured overseas but by a California-based company. Newsom says they wanted to use the purchasing power of California to secure the masks and they will export some of the supplies to other states in need.
