Sacramento Area Workers Earning More Than The National Average

New numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor find Sacramento area workers earning more money that their counterparts across the country.

The average worker in the Sacramento area earns $26.45 an hour - nine percent more than the national average of $24.34. Newly released figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics find obstetricians, gynecologists and surgeons making the most at more than 276 thousand dollars a year. 

Notably, the average wage for healthcare practitioners and technical operations in Sacramento is 27 percent above the national average as of May 2017 - the most recent data available.

In general, wages range from $54.75 an hour for management occupations to less than $11.50 an hour for fast food workers and dishwashers.
