East Area Rapist Case--Original Investigator Carol Daly Talks to A&G

Former Sacramento Undersheriff Carol Daly was one of the first law enforcement officers to work on the East Area Rapist case when the attacks began in the late 1970's.

Daly, now retired, joined Armstrong & Getty to talk about the deadly attacker.

At the time, investigators believed that the suspect had either police or military training, aiding him he eluding authorities multiple times, essentially melting into the night.

The former Undersheriff says there were several times that investigators thought they were close to catching the suspect, but "by the time they would turn around--poof--it was as if he would disappear all the time."

The suspect, 72-year old Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested on Tuesday.

His arraignment is taking place Friday afternoon at Sacramento's Patino Hall of Justice.
