Florida To Power Down Two Nuclear Plants Before Irma's Arrival

Two nuclear power plants in Florida are shutting down ahead of Hurricane Irma's arrival. Florida Power and Light says they're safely shutting down plants at Turkey Point and St. Lucie, which are both along the Atlantic Coast.

There's no word on the exact time frame of the shut downs, but officials say they will happen well before hurricane-force winds impact the state.  Hurricane Irma is a Category Five hurricane right now, but it's expected to be downgraded before it impacts in Florida over the weekend.
