Man Tax For A Cup Of Joe

A café down under is charging male customers an additional 18% tax to shed light on the gender pay gap in Australia. The new eatery in Melbourne for one week of every month asks men to pay a “gender tax,” which is donated to services and charities in benefit of women. The Australian government said the pay gap, which is similar to that of the US, hovered between 15 and 20%.

Guys buying a cup of coffee for $4 are asked to pay 72 cents more.  The café owner said she has men coming from across town just to pay the tax, and to tip a little extra in the donation jar.
